Vinyl Victory!

THE RIGHT PAINT FOR LASTING BEAUTY

Protect and Perfect Your Siding with Vinyl-Specific Paints!

At Envy Paint and Design, we know that using a specialized paint for vinyl siding is critical for optimal performance. Vinyl siding paint features light-reflective pigments that reduce heat absorption, which is especially important for darker colours that can absorb more heat. This helps prevent warping or buckling, ensuring your home stays beautiful for years to come. Plus, these paints are UV ray resistant, so your chosen colour will remain vibrant and true to its original shade.

Choose the Right Paint:
Always opt for paints specifically formulated for vinyl siding.

Consider Colour Carefully:
Think about lighter colours for better heat reflection or better yet, choose from Benjamin Moore’s Colours for Vinyl palette!

Steps for Success

Step 1: Cleaning Vinyl Siding
Before painting, the surface must be cleaned thoroughly. Any mildew, chalk, or dirt must be removed to ensure maximum adhesion.
TIP: The best way to clean vinyl siding is by hand scrubbing or power washing. We recommend using Clean Multi-Purpose Cleaner (318), which is ideal for cleaning vinyl surfaces. No matter the cleaner used, thoroughly rinse the surface with clean water after washing, as the surface needs to be dry before priming or painting.

Step 2: Priming Vinyl Siding
In most cases, a primer is not necessary; the Benjamin Moore exterior products for use with the Colours for Vinyl palette are self-priming on properly prepared vinyl.
TIP: If you have pitted or porous vinyl siding, always prime it first. Consider using Fresh Start® High Hiding All Purpose Primer (K046) for this step.

Step 3: Choosing Colours
The Colours for Vinyl palette offers a curated selection of 75+ colours chosen by our colour and design experts.

Step 4: Painting Vinyl Siding
Typically, two coats are recommended for exteriors, but always follow the directions on the can. Apply with a spray, brush, or roller. Remember, vinyl siding does not retain moisture, so it’s easy to clean and dries quickly.
TIP: Avoid applying paint when air and surface temperatures are below 4.4°C (40°F) and steer clear of painting in direct sunlight—make sure the surface isn’t hot to the touch!

Before painting, ensure that all vinyl siding is properly installed and that any necessary repairs have been made. Always check specific vinyl manufacturer’s guidelines and the Technical Data Sheet.
